Job Summary:
The Natural Gas Business Unit (NGBU) Pipeline and Station Support Engineering group provides engineering services to support capital project work and pipeline operations through the full 5 state service area (NC, SC, TN, OH, KY). The team is comprised of individuals who provide one of several different subject matter expert functions (controls and electrical design, corrosion engineering, civil/structural engineering). The team provides engineering services for capital projects that are initiated and managed by either Major Projects or Field Operations. Engineers are assigned as needed, based upon their area of expertise, to multi-disciplined project groups for numerous, concurrent projects.


CAD Operator

The CAD Operator role in the team will provide support across the disciplines where required. It is a generalist support role with the opportunity to engage with specialist engineering personnel and have a broad range of responsibilities and involvement.
• Drafting support for controls, civil/structural and corrosion technical drawings
• General support of both Capital and O&M projects
• Participate in corporate initiatives and special projects.
• Other duties as needed by the NGBU.

The CAD Operator will typically be supporting the engineering team in a variety of roles, drafting new engineering drawings for all disciplines, supporting new design documentation and working with the engineering team on new gas pipeline projects. Projects may range from small station upgrades to complex pipeline control sites. Examples of control equipment at these sites includes, but is not limited to meters, correctors, pressure and temperature transmitters, control valves, odorizers and remote terminal units/programmable logic controllers (RTU/PLC). The team also manages the design and delivery of station control panels for these projects (~65 per year).


CAD Operator
Basic/Required Qualifications:
• 3 years (min) of industry experience
• Experienced in use of CAD programs and drafting of technical drawings
• Proficient in practices of researching design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred
• 5+ years of industry experience
• Energy industry, manufacturing or process industry experience
• Familiar with one of the following engineering fields:
• Mechanical engineering
• Civil engineering
• Control engineering


Transforms initial rough product designs using computer aided design (CAD) into working documents. Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. May require an associate's degree in a related area and 5-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May direct and lead the work of others. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
