Job Description
Pay: $30-35hr
Overview:
The Engineering Technician will have a basic understanding of utility system design and analysis using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Responsibilities include identifying system materials and their applications; preparing work orders; engaging in planning and research; providing field design and support for utility systems; adhering to standard work processes; and applying industry standards. The Engineering Technician will be expected to design a variety of projects, ranging from simple to intermediate complexity, and will frequently coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and leadership to ensure compliance and effective management of project tasks.
- Utilize CAD software for the creation and modification of technical drawings and designs. Incorporate design changes and revisions into existing plans. Apply utility design and construction standards to ensure compliance. Select appropriate materials and components based on project requirements.
- Analyze and interoperate industry standards, maps, blueprint drawings, details, survey data, sketches, and project scope requirements.
- Plan and consult with internal departments to review project needs, such as specifications, reporting, discuss problems and solutions, task prioritization, coordination, permitting and environmental impacts.
- Preparing and updating forms and system application data associated with project work orders.
- Understand and apply existing department standards, procedures, processes and job aids as related to plans and specifications, maps, images, drawings and related material for projects or other work order application documents.
- May be required to conduct site visits to collect and verify drawing data, and during construction for support, development, training and general guidance as needed.

Skills
- General proficiency CAD software required, MicroStation V8i or v10, AutoCAD, Open Plant, GIS
- MS Windows Applications
- Knowledge in utility operations
- Ability to solve problems; taking new perspectives using existing computer based solutions
- Written and Verbal Communication Skills

- Good interpersonal Skills
- Project planning and coordination
Education
- Technical or engineering Associate Degree or applicable years experience required.
- 2-4 Years experience required, 4-7 years preferred
