Job Description
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: (Summary of job duties)
Manages a staff of buyers, leads by example, involved in the training aspect of purchasing responsibilities, motivates staff to excel to reach their highest potential. Identify suppliers, negotiate programs, and build positive relationships. Delegates responsibilities among staff. An active participant in business reviews with staff members and suppliers. Monitors and evaluates competitive products and pricing. Must have commodity buying experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead person for negotiation of supplier programs, pricing, terms, and incentive opportunities.
- Develop a strong rapport with suppliers including key decision makers.
- Manages all aspects of the RFP Process, analysis, negotiation strategy including growth incentives, contract drafting, awarding of business, and agreement execution plans.
- Manage delivered price vs. Company in-bound freight to determine lowest “delivered” cost goods.
- Satisfy requests for new item development and qualifies opportunities with sales department.
- Navigate and manage opportunity buys of raw materials when available.
- Builds and maintains quality relationships with key suppliers.
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive procurement strategy, aligned with company objectives and market trends.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with key suppliers of raw materials, packaging, and other essential goods and services.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the procurement process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and supplier performance management.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality control, and finance, to ensure seamless procurement processes and alignment with business needs.
- Conduct market research and stay abreast of industry trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize procurement risks and ensure a reliable flow of high-quality materials.
- Oversee the activities of the procurement team, providing leadership, mentorship, and ensuring their professional development.
- Manage and optimize procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Analyze data and generate reports to monitor procurement performance, identify trends, and recommend improvement strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a senior procurement role within the food and beverage industry.
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, risk management strategies, and contract negotiation tactics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement cost-saving solutions.
- Experience managing and motivating a team, fostering collaboration, and providing effective leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software (e.g., SAP).
