Department Summary
Our clients Environmental Services Department is a team of professionals who provide planning, permitting, operational compliance, policy, and strategic support for electric and natural gas utility operations serving approximately 6 million customers in Michigan.
Experience Required:
The Environmental Services’ Land and Water Management Section is seeking an Environmental Analyst to support land and water protection through construction project assessment and natural resource permitting for a variety of utility projects. Knowledge required for this position includes the following areas:
- Experience with interpreting environmental regulations at the local, state, and federal level to determine applicability and compliance obligations.
- Experience in assembling and filing natural resource permits at the local and state level.
- Experience in water-related regulations and environmental compliance, including knowledge of Michigan’s natural resource protection regulations (e.g., Michigan Part 91, 301, and 303).
- Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) for environmental assessments/evaluations, including ArcOnline tools and ArcDesktop for map making.
A successful candidate will have the following skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferred 3-5 years.
- Established relationships with local, state and federal permitting agencies.
- Electric generation / distribution and gas distribution and transmission utility experience.
- Strong written, oral, and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and oversee multiple programs and assignments.
Education required is a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant environmental field or discipline
