Job Description

Our client is seeking a Environmental Waste Coordinator  for their Norfolk, VA location. They are a premier environmental and emergency services company in the Eastern United States. You will be working for a renowned company that works on big projects like the East Palestine clean up in Ohio to the Train Derailment in Maine.

Primary Responsibilities
 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer relationships
  • Receive and respond to customer inquiries regarding services and pricing
  • Intake and process waste disposal service orders from customers
  • Maintain accurate and complete customer files
  • Escalate customer concerns as necessary to ensure timely resolution
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and processing of compliance documents
  • Coordinate activities with Field Technicians and Drivers as necessary to ensure timely waste collection and disposal
  • Ensure proper segregation, packaging, and labeling of waste according to company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare computer generated packing lists, labels, manifest, and land disposal restriction notifications
  • Inspect storage area and drums for leaks or spills
  • Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations
  • Collects, segregates, and properly packages waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance
  • Responsible for final preparation and approval of all projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies
  • Conducts projects/jobs according to site specific Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans
  • Understand customer specific disposal restrictions/special packaging requirements
 
Requirements
 
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline or 2+ experience with lab pack/environmental waste services preferred
  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment, high attention to detail
  • Basic working knowledge of high hazard materials management and cylinder handling   
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental waste services  
  • Customer service orientation, excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary
  • Able to travel occasionally as required  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment background check, physical exam and drug screening
