Pay: $75-85/hr

Overview:


The Construction Leader position supports the project management team in the execution of capital projects. Experience required with major power plants and equipment including but not limited to turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation, operations, and other balance-of-plant systems.

Candidates must be highly motivated, be able to work with minimum supervision, and have effective communication skills. Candidates must be able to qualify for work in the field including confined space, climbing stairs and ladders, wearing a respirator, etc. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure capital projects are executed with Safety and Environmental Compliance as the primary focus of all personnel supporting his/her projects.
  • Manage or assist in all phases of smaller improvement projects including permitting, contract negotiations, engineering contracts, construction contracts, construction activities and commissioning.
  • Develops and manages overall project budget and schedule for major and smaller projects.
  • Manage the approved project financial spend plan and cost forecast, making decisions to meet project financial goals.
  • Manage contracts / commercial aspects of the project with Client Company's suppliers and contractors.
  • Manage all project related administrative requirements as per PM process.
  • Employ project management skills to assist the lead Project Manager in the coordination of meetings, budgets, schedules, requisitions, plans, report, estimates, contract correspondence and other needs as they arise.
  • Responsible for performing site construction oversight inspections to monitor the field quality of work and materials provided by vendors and subcontractors.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, inspects work quality and adherence to contract specifications to meet regulatory requirements, codes and company standards using visual observation, construction knowledge and application of skills.
  • Ensure Client Company is getting the products and services specified in the PO, and to ensure the products and services will perform as required.
  • The Project Leader must understand the Scope of Work (SOW) and ensure the Supplier executes the work according to the SOW, and all applicable Client Company Specifications and Standards. Any deviations from contract specifications or materials that are identified are to be reported to the Project Manager.
  • Know and understand Client Company's Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including a general knowledge of the Safety and Environmental Compliance standards therein, that are expected to be executed successfully by the Supplier.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Ability to work effectively with management and co-workers and to make effective decisions.
  • Skilled in problem solving, attention to detail.
  • Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products.
  • Familiarity with OSHA industrial safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management, relevant technologies, and leadership in the assigned project areas.
  • Working knowledge of power generation and pollution control equipment. General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization and work component scheduling.
  • Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and industry safety practices.
  • Strong team building skills, demonstrated skill and ability in effectively leading teams to achieve project goals and milestones.
  • Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
  • Demonstrated capability in handling multiple distinct projects at one time.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to develop, manage and monitor project performance to ensure results meet project requirements and schedules.
  • Ability to coordinate the resolution of technical problems and implement changes.
  • Ability to work and develop rapport with all levels of management and staff.
  • Skilled in problem solving, attention to detail. Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting manuals, technical instructions and drawings, with an ability to accurately prepare brief written reports.
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
Certifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required

Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Must be people friendly, should be able to run meeting and project tasks during temporary absence of PM.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Engineering or O&P background
