Job Description

  • Workers at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision.

  •   Worker will be programming protection equipment (de-energized) and inspecting solar installations

These positions perform DPAC and SOG engineering analysis in support of the Storm Protection Plan (SPP). Their duties include protective coordination and sectionalization reviews, TripSaver application analysis, and SOG implementation studies. Protection studies are performed in support of Transmission and Distribution equipment upgrades.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Proficient in CYMDIST. Resource(s) shall have direct experience with CYMDIST version 9.0r5, shall have extensive experience utilizing the program to perform feeder analysis, and shall be able to work independently with little help.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience

Desired Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Course work in electrical power systems
  • Proficient in electric distribution system design engineering practices and principles. (i.e., ability to perform desktop and field validations, recognition of basic field equipment including electronic and hydraulic reclosers, sectionalizers, switchgear, wye and delta transformer banks, cutouts, phasing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of basic distribution system planning practices including circuit model validation, analyzing switching contingencies, trouble-shooting circuit overloads and voltage violations, resolving high-neutral current issues, etc.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Availability to work on the SOG Program for at least 1 year +.
  • Python and Microsoft Excel Macros coding experience
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic background.
