Job Description

Desired strengths:
  • Mechanical intuition – this position will be designing orthopedic components & assemblies
  • Detail oriented – there are extensive print checks as print errors can result in harm to patients
  • Time management – ability to estimate task duration, manage multiple tasks, and deliver on commitments
Responsibilities:
  • CAD modelling and drafting of Orthopedic trauma implants, instruments & trays (70%)
  • Support managing 3D plotter runs & maitenance (10%)
  • Inspecting prototypes against drawing specification (5%)
  • Performing engineering analysis (5%)
  • Other duties as required such as cleaning 3D printed prototypes, performing bench testing, assembling instrument sets (5%)
Education:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent; 2 year technical degree in Computer Aided Drafting preferred
Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modelling & drafting (required)
  • Competent with Unigraphics NX11 or newer (preferred) or Solidworks (acceptable)
Competences:
  • Strong CAD skills, Unigraphics is preferred
  • Product knowledge of Orthopedic Trauma devices
  • Understanding of gage design methods a plus
  • Strong communication skills including technical writing, listening and speaking; ability to influence others
  • High learning agility with the ability to analyze and synthesize data and then present it to senior leaders
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive project completion
  • Independent thinking and the ability to work within a team is required
  • Ability to assess technical issues and develop solutions utilizing an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Requires the ability to manage tight deadlines, multiple tasks from all levels of engineers, assignment changes, periodic heavy workload, rapidly changing technology, and dynamic business growth; time management and organization skills are a must
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting & carrying instrument sets as needed up to 25 lbs. Ability to perform typical maintenance of 3D plotter.
  • Travel Requirements: 10% between Memphis sites, if necessary
