Job Description


Our client is looking for a Sr. Civil Engineer with experience directing and coordinating designs and revisions of major engineering projects related to water and water treatment plants. This individual will become the  office Director  as soon as they are ready. 

Job Summary:

Performs complex technical assignments related to design and development or design changes, of engineering projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Directs or coordinates design and revisions of major engineering projects as assigned.
  • Provides necessary engineering skills on construction projects which may include travel to job sites.
  • Controls methodologies used to obtain field data, conduct studies, and prepare reports and summaries.
  • Coordinates workload of project team members including other engineering staff and technicians.
  • Directs investigation into design alternatives when presented with conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Assists in training and development activities for the engineering staff.
  • Assist in the development of design standards and specifications.
  • Involved with exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and the development of innovative concepts.
  • Assumes responsibilities as Discipline Director, Project Manager or Project Engineer from time-to-time.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Discipline Director, Office Director or President.

Competencies:
  • Knowledge and skills in management and supervisory techniques.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, procedures and principles.
  • Ability to think methodically and to understand technical manuals and instructions and prepare basic engineering designs and plans.
  • Strong problems solving and a desire to come up with practical solutions.
  • Ability and experience in communicating technical matters relating to the project to the client both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to self-direct a large portion of workload.
  • Ability to balance demands from multiple directions and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work with a range of individuals in a professional and cooperative environment.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum from a four year college, or equivalent with a minimum of ten years of experience.
  • Registration as a licensed professional engineer is required.
  • Completes necessary continuing education requirements to maintain PE registration.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience.
20 year relationship with this client, will move very fast - feedback, interview, offer. 
  • Pay: $100-$120/k will exceed for the right candidate, doesn't want money to stop us from submitting candidates
  • Yearly Profit Sharing paid in 4th QTR if they start before October 1st
  • 401/k match 50% of 8% (basically 4%)
  • SPREAD: 25% direct hire | FEE $30/k 
  • Location: Ft Wayne, IN
  • Relocation: YES
  • WFH: NO - they work 4 - 10s and can take any day they want off 
  • MUST HAVES:
    • This can be a civil engineer with any municipal experience
    • Must have PE with 8+ years of experience - will look at candidates with 20+ years - basically if they have their PE and are a leader or want to be a leader then lets consider
    • This person will take over and run  the Ft Wayne office and will be come a  partner in the firm
  • They will look at candidates from anywhere as long as they will relocate and can get their PE in Indy
