In this role, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for all procurement and fulfillment for custom built aircraft assembly automation projects within our recently opened Elk Grove Village production facility. The Individual will establish a clear communication with suppliers and drive actions for fulfillment of our company’s objectives for on-time delivery, quality and pricing that is aligned to customer requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop the supply chain, with a focus on adding local suppliers
- Be a leader in inquiries and negotiations for project and production work
- Perform supplier qualifications in coordination with applicable managers
- Negotiate purchase agreements in coordination with applicable managers
- Participate in make-or-buy decisions
- Convert Purchase Requisitions to POs, update PO Promise Dates from suppliers, and manage PO schedule changes / work within standard ERP process
- Achieve best cost for material with outstanding quality and within customer Need-By date
- Maintain proper inventory levels of stock material
- Own Fulfillment KPI; On-time PO placement, On-time Delivery, Supplier Promise Date / PO Promise Date accuracy, Deflation, Adherence to Supplier Contracts / Pricing, and invoice resolution
- Partner with the Supplier Quality & negotiate on Vendor Recovery associated with Liquidated Damages due to delivery & quality issues
- Hold bi-weekly / monthly rhythm with strategic suppliers for overall supplier performance & ensure best price & lead times are offered by suppliers
- Partner with engineering & coordinate with suppliers on design change implementation
- Develop knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes, material and commodity pricing and excellent focus on quality
- Support Quality Assurance in development of quality/inspection plan
- Be a first line of contact & establish strategic relationship with suppliers
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, engineering, and / or manufacturing
- Strong background in mechanical and electrical applications preferred
- Experience with SAP not required but will give the candidate a strong advantage
