Job Description

The Project Engineer - HVAC will be responsible for overseeing and managing HVAC projects from concept through completion. This includes designing, planning, coordinating, and ensuring the successful execution of HVAC systems and installations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HVAC principles, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client expectations and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Design:
    Lead the design, specification, and planning of HVAC systems for new and retrofit construction projects. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop detailed plans.
  • System Design & Calculations:
    Perform detailed load calculations, equipment selection, and system design to meet the project requirements. Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other HVAC-specific design tools.
  • Project Management:
    Oversee the progress of HVAC projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to client specifications. Prepare and manage project schedules and timelines.
  • Coordination with Contractors & Vendors:
    Work closely with contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Ensure all materials and equipment are delivered as scheduled.
  • Compliance & Quality Control:
    Ensure HVAC systems comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Perform regular site visits to monitor work quality, safety, and adherence to specifications.
  • Client Communication:
    Maintain regular communication with clients to provide project updates, address concerns, and offer solutions to challenges that may arise.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
    Address technical challenges that arise during the design, installation, or operation of HVAC systems. Provide solutions and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of project progress, designs, and communications. Prepare and submit reports for senior management and clients as required.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, energy efficiency, and industry best practices.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong project management abilities and attention to detail.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
    • Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
    • LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Other:
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
