Description
  • The experienced Project Manager will oversee several Safety and Operational related natural Gas distribution projects and initiatives within DTEs South East region.
  • Leadership of special projects will include transferring process thinking, problem-solving, facilitation, benchmarking, and leadership skills to others in the organization. Provides project consultation, project management, facilitation, analysis and supports key distribution programs. Contributes a higher level of skill and leadership to distribution initiatives and provides coaching, counseling and knowledge transfer to others.
  • Project management responsibilities will include the coordination and completion of projects to ensure safety accountability & adherence of workplace standards. Incumbent will have responsibility to oversee all aspects of projects, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects for leadership review.
  • Safety and Operational expertise inherent in this position will include electric utility specific process knowledge, job unit procedures, tools & equipment, HPI, and safe work practices consistent with energy industry standards.
  • The position demands strong leadership and operational expertise in order to identify safety hazards, situational risks, safety violations, and gaps in the safety culture within the Southwest Region. In addition to Project Management position will serve as a consultant and make recommendations to close gaps and improve safety adherence.
  • Measures of success will include successful completion of assigned projects that directly lead to improvements in safety accountability, safety performance metrics, and cultural change.
  • The successful candidate will work directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with various levels of the organization to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible with union contract and DTE work rules.


Requirements:
  • Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and 5-10 years industry specific experience
  • Strong familiarity with electric distribution work rules and industry best practices is essential
  • Ability to utilize formal process improvement, problem-solving and analytical techniques
  • Proven ability to lead and direct the work of other team members and manage key projects to completion.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred


Other Requirements:
  • Possesses a valid driver's license, meet company driving standards and provide own transportation within the service area.
  • Advanced knowledge of process concepts, continuous improvement methods and approaches.
  • Working knowledge of organizational training, development and education.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability with Project Management techniques and use of Project Management tools, including ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate well with others.
  • Proficient verbal, nonverbal, written, and presentation skills.
