Job Description
Our client is looking is looking for a Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist. This Sr. EH&S Specialist will be responsible for coordinating with the EH&S Manager to implement and maintain effective environmental, health, and safety (EHS) processes through risk reduction strategies and management system implementation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in the management of various facets of existing EHS programs as well as contribute to new program development
- Improve EHS workplace performance by promoting an incident-free workplace, identifying and mitigating EHS risk, and working within the EHS department and with operations to implement safety and environmental programs and procedures in accordance with State and Federal regulations and corporate compliance policies.
- Participate in the management of Environmental Compliance programs/processes/reporting. (i.e., Hazardous Waste Management, Air Emissions Permits, SARA Tier II Reporting, Form R Reporting, etc.)
- Provide necessary environmental and safety training for employees and ensure compliance and understanding using established and/or approved training materials
- In conjunction with the EHS Manager, guide and direct business units toward compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance policies
- Facilitate and engage business unit teams and team members to drive projects that will lead to reductions in accidents, energy, water usage and waste minimization
- Ensure timely closure of projects and submittal of required federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulatory reports
- Contribute to the production or revision of various EHS compliance plans/programs
- Participate in Safety Steering Team meeting or other topical meetings required for the business unit
- Conduct inspections and audits throughout the various operational facilities to identify existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures
- Assist in incident investigations with operations staff and exercise practical problem-solving skills
- Administer initial Workers Compensation functions for the various business unit(s)
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local OSHA regulations, safety codes and environmental regulations
- Facilitate the analysis and implementation of operational EHS suggestions (via accountability Boards and direction from Management)
- Conduct JSAs (safety risk assessments) and PPE Hazard Assessments
- Coordinate environmental waste disposal; maintain waste manifest records
- Assist in the management of the Medical First Responders Team and Emergency Response Team
- Maintain and manage powered industrial truck training and certification
- Other tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or related scientific field or related experience
- Minimum of four - seven years related experience
- Trained in hazardous material accumulation, recycling, container management, and spill response; attend refresher course annually
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
- Innovative team player
- Intermediate computer skills are required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
