Job Description
They will have extensive experience with design of site/civil development plans addressing federal and state permitting, and local jurisdiction planning and zoning requirements along with experience working on utility sites, flood control structures, and coastal and waterfront infrastructure. The desired professional must possess strong leadership and communication skills and be proficient in report and proposal writing, presentations, and business development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Water Resources or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- 20+ years progressive experience in Civil or Geotechnical engineering with extensive technical background in field of expertise and at least 5+ years in a project management and client relationship management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following: municipal and state contracts; floodplain regulations and management; FEMA levee accreditation; FERC hydropower inspections, design, and compliance; conveyance pipeline design or construction; and coastal permitting, planning, and design.
- Advanced technical skills in one or more of water resources related fields including flood control design and inspection, dams and levees, water conveyance, stormwater management, hydraulic and hydrological analysis, floodplain management and site development, and coastal structures.
- Ability to design and oversee design projects including layout, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept, through design and permitting, and to completion.
- Experience with cost estimating and scheduling.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and development of state and federal permit documents including USACE 408 Permitting and USACE 404 Permitting.
- Well established relationships with local and regional agencies and clients.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically.
- Experience managing staff.
- Proactively collaborative and successful in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams. Experience with GIS, CAD, MS Project, and other technical analysis software is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and organization skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively and in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to be adaptive, creative, and bring inventive solutions to projects and problems.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and commitment to producing quality work.
- Working knowledge of Georgia and Southeastern (Alabama, Florida, Mississippi or South Carolina) state regulations, federal, and local regulatory and permitting requirements.
- Experience with USEPA SWMM, HEC-RAS (both 1D and 2D versions) and HEC-HMS.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, with ability to analyze/convert surfaces, particularly to support H & H modeling program demands.
- Grant writing and/or administration. Experience either with writing or administering state and local grants is a plus.
