Job Description
This is a hands-on position where you will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. This includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. You must assist, support, and back up the plant manager by providing leadership for maintenance and operations.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of five years of previous experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial setting that included hands-on experience with industrial electronics, fabrication, welding, mechanics, and plumbing.
- Good reading, math, and reasoning skills as demonstrated by a written assessment.
- Ability to read and understand schematics for machinery and electrical systems.
- Experience with pump repairs including rebuilding with mechanical seals.
- Ability to drive a forklift.
- Understanding of continuous improvement principles.
- Effective communicator in written and verbal form.
- Working knowledge of maintenance-related OSHA standards.
- An acute awareness of chemical hazards and ability to understand and comply with SDS information.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, bend, stoop, and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All facilities are tobacco and drug-free.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate coil anodizing line in a production environment, including maintenance and other tasks assigned by the Plant Manager.
- Lead and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to minimize maintenance costs and downtime.
- Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment including, but not limited to, cranes, chillers, process heaters, boilers, pumps, saws, air lines, forklifts and coil handling equipment. Energy sources will include but not limited to, electricity, pneumatics, steam, hydraulics, batteries, stored and centrifugal energy.
- Build and weld current-carrying fixtures and other assemblies as required.
- Perform electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing fuses and working on non-energized circuits.
- Troubleshoot plant electronics including rectifiers and PLC controls.
- Weld MIG/TIG and stick on aluminum and mild steel. Cut material with oxygen / acetylene and or plasma.
- Assist with the development and improvement of team member skills on PM’s, troubleshooting, and general knowledge of equipment operation.
- Help management create a sense of teamwork and cooperation among departments, especially when problems are discovered.
- Provide for safety of employees by ensuring a work environment that exceeds OSHA requirements.
- Support housekeeping effort with 5S principles. Assists keeping files updated with all current equipment manuals, repairs, and parts purchases.
- Must be available for overtime as necessary.
- Good housekeeping and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Follow all company safety policies, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.
- Comply with environmental regulations.
