Description:
The Staff Compliance Specialist will perform various environmental air permitting, analysis, and compliance projects.  This position will perform multi-media environmental compliance audits; environmental site assessments; mitigation measure implementation, write and edit plans for various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.    

All other duties as assigned.

 
  • Prepare summaries of regulations and determines the applicability to a client’s operations.
  • Perform site audits, incident investigations and audits in support of other company and client initiatives.
  • Apply environmental regulatory knowledge and experience to develop effective strategies and solutions to current and future technical and regulatory issues on projects.
  • Monitor state and federal regulatory developments (proposed and promulgated rule making, notices, etc.), trends (regulatory and intra company), and presents impacts of applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare emissions calculations and background documentation.
  • Develop and implement compliance tools and remediation project strategies.
  • Help to build and maintain good working relationships with regulatory agencies such as: Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Air & Radiation, Office of Enforcement & Compliance, etc. 
  • Prepare basic training materials and train site personnel.
  • Present at trade associations and conferences.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required.  In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field from an accredited program is required. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
  • A minimum of 7 years of environmental compliance experience required.
  • Previous consulting experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II, and remediation is preferred.
  • Strong Knowledge of environmental regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office are required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and CERCLA understanding in remedial design. 
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is required.
