Job Description
The Technical Training Specialist conducts training needs analysis and designs, develops, and implements training programs to the standards outlined by regulation, safety, and competency. This position will collaborate with multiple disciplines leaders to enhance employee skills, performance, productivity, and quality of work.
Job Duties
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of training and competency programs
- Conduct training needs analysis to identify gaps in training content and materials and research enhancements to generate higher productivity and safety
- Create curriculum to facilitate leadership and development, safety, and craft discipline training
- Develop course content utilizing multiple delivery methods (instructor led training, computer-based training, virtual instructor led training)
- Produce supporting supplemental materials and reference guides that facilitate curriculum learning
- Determine evaluation and assessment strategies and apply the strategies identified to course content development
- Conduct competency and proficiency assessments for craft disciplines.
- Ensure training programs are developed in compliance with regulatory, safety and competency requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years of craft training or construction industry experience required
- NCCER Master Trainer Certification required
- OSHA knowledge required (Certifications Preferred)
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Physical - Heavy industrial environment that includes working in adverse climates, and extensive walking with multiple levels requiring stairs, passenger use of personnel hoists, negotiating work areas under construction, climbing permanent and temporary ladders, occasional lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, requires use of hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and bending. Specific vision abilities required for this job includes: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The person in this position frequently communicates with clients, peers, engineers and construction professionals, and they must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds by ear. Must be able to safely operate motor vehicles. May at times need to access confined spaces.
- Occasional long hours and infrequent days off, occasional night shifts or moderate to long periods of working consecutive night’s; climbing on, in or through equipment in confined spaces and elevated work; utilization of fall protection harnesses, respirators, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus; keyboarding/typing, ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy, ability to handle a large volume of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Schedule and Work Activities The base work schedule will be a five (5) day work week (Monday through Friday) with some exceptions base on the office or project location. Periodic weekend work and extended work days may be required. Business travel after regular work hours will be required. Night shift work may be required to support project execution.
Travel: Travel up to 25% is required as necessary to support the execution of projects, training and other corporate requirements. Travel may extend over weekend and holidays. High probability of extended periods of travel may be required to support project execution for duration of project/program in the form of field assignments or relocation. Frequency of travel will vary based on the different project needs. Travel on short notice my be required.
