Environmental Planner - Staff Level

Job Description
The Environmental Planner will work within our Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice to perform the following duties:
- Assist with preparation of technical reports related to NEPA/SEPA compliance, and other documents required for federal, state, and local permits
- Prepare a wide variety of permit applications such as land use, critical areas, and wetland/waterways permitting
- Develop permitting strategies to comply with state and federal laws and regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act
- Develop, cultivate, and strengthen client relationships
- Assist with developing proposals, statements of work and cost estimates
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Planning or Natural Resource Management or related field from an accredited university
- Minimum 4 years’ experience performing environmental studies, preparing permit applications, and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects
- Specific experience in linear projects (e.g., electric transmission) and renewable energy markets preferred
- Experience with the natural resources and regulatory agencies in the western U.S.
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods used for collection and analysis of environmental data
- Ability to use creativity, problem-solving and analytical skills to develop solutions for project challenges
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
